Study trips to Poland

 

Every year we organise three study trips, one to Auschwitz-Birkenau and two others (one in French and one in Dutch) to Majdanek and the extermination centres (Chelmno, Belzec, Sobibór and Treblinka), with a visit to the city and the ghetto there beforehand.

International prizes

 

The Auschwitz Foundation Prize is awarded annually to two high-level academic works in honour of all victims of the Nazi concentration camps and extermination centres. We also offer an annual research grant.

Memorial paving stones

 

In honour of the families of our founders, of the victims of the occupying forces domiciled in Rue Haute in Brussels, to the Resistance fighters executed in Breendonk and at the ‘Tir National’ (Brussels), buried in the ‘Enclos des fusillés’, and to those shot at the ‘Tir’ of Charleroi.

'Marolles-Midi' project

 

This project on the Marolles, a neighbourhood where Jewish immigration was concentrated from the 1920s to the Second World War, led to the creation of a website and a DVD based on interviews with survivors of the camps and hidden children from the neighbourhood.

Brussels Gestapo Headquarters

 

Our work on the buildings of the former Sipo-Sd (Gestapo) headquarters on Avenue Louise led, in 2014, to a classification procedure for the cellars, which contain writing on the walls by Jewish and Resistance victims of the occupier.

Train of 1000

 

In 2015, with INIG and FIR we co-organised an educational trip related to the Holocaust and Memory. The highlight of the project was a five-day train journey with 1,000 young Europeans from Brussels to Krakow and a visit to the Auschwitz camp.
